What Is Included In A Royal Caribbean Cruise 2023December 5, 2023
We know we’d all love it – something that we’ve really only seen Virgin Voyages do – but should Royal Offer an adults-only cruise?

The Current Cruise Landscape
Let’s talk about Royal Caribbean and what they currently offer – Royal has found the perfect balance of the ultimate Family Friendly cruise line and is also amazing for adults. Royal has plenty of kids’ clubs, and activities for kids of all ages from bumper cars, to rock wall climbing, and the IFly Sky diving simulator – the list is almost endless. While still having a lot for the adults to do, with nightclubs, bars, game shows and so much more. So let’s take a look into what a Royal Caribbean adults-only cruise would look like.
What Would A Royal Caribbean Adult Only Cruise Look Like?
While Royal Offers adult-only sections on their cruise ships such as the Solarium which is 18+, other than this Royal doesn’t have any escapes that are kids-free. So I’m going to ask for you to use your imagination a bit here, Let’s try to picture it – No more kids running around the decks, in the windjammer or lifts. No more kids running into you or bumping you, no yelling or screaming – No more kids running and kicking room service food left in the hallways.
This would be the perfect intimate escape for you and your significant other – although we understand it’s incredibly hard to find the time to escape the kids and make sure they are looked after. It’s clear to see the rising demands of kid-free cruises / Adult only cruises getting stronger with Google Trends backing this up, showing “Adult only cruise” having an increase of 450% in Searches.
Would it work?
Royal Caribbean’s ships are the biggest in the world, with even their smaller Quantum Class being still some of the largest in the world – the running cost is roughly $240 million per year – as seen from CruiseMummy Here – We could estimate a running cost of $4.61 million dollars Per Week – With these numbers in mind we now need to factor in – although the rise in google searches, there would likely be a lot less overall passengers onboard the ships. The average price of $799-$1300 AUD per person would rise significantly. While Royal could still operate a ship, it likely Royal wouldn’t meet its quotas.
Royal could then offer more services that could cater to the adults – such as more high-end bars, and like Virgin Voyages – more raunchy shows. Royal already offers so much, so it’s hard to think of what extra they could really offer. While it’d be amazing to see, I just don’t know if it can be done. It’s something that Virgin Voyages has come along and taken the market.
Feedback from the Community
While on board early this “heading” to South Pacific (we never made it there), I asked roughly 50 people what they’d think if Royal had the option to do an Adults-only cruise. The overall result we heard was it’d be something they’d love – with many saying even if they could be more adult-only and kid-free zones on the ship. We also heard from a family that shared they’re opinion saying – Royal truly is their perfect escape, with facilities to keep their kids occupied – being able to enjoy family dining yet do their own thing. While overall the main feedback we got was positive, it wasn’t so much to be kids-free, but rather more Adult-only relaxing areas.
While it’d be great to see an adults-only cruise by Royal, it’s honestly something that I think they won’t do – Royal has focused a lot on being the perfect cruise line for everyone. They know a lot of people cruise with kids, hence why their ships are filled with amazing attractions. Virgin Voyages, has really capitalized on the market becoming known as the adults-only cruise line for everyone.
