Royal Caribbean Packages You Need
November 26, 2023Hello fellow Royal Crusiers, today we’re going to be talking about the Deluxe Drink Package. By this point I’m sure you are aware of Royals “Rules” being if one person buys the Deluxe Drink Package, then everyone in the cabin must – But do you? Let me tell you one way of how you can get out of it below.
How To Get Out Of Buying Multiple Deluxe Drinks Packages
Let’s get right into this, Royal Caribbean’s rule states “The Deluxe Beverage Package policy requires all guests wishing to purchase the Deluxe Beverage Package to do so for ALL guests of legal drinking age in the same stateroom.” which can be seen here. First of all let us understand why, this wasn’t always the case – this was changed at some point in 2017. One of the large factors obviously of people sharing too many drinks and causing Royal to potentially lose money on the package thus the rule change.

What is the Deluxe Drinks Package?
If you are not too sure about what the Deluxe Drinks Package is or as it’s known as the “Deluxe Beverage Package” we have a dedicated article page to it here where we explain every part of it and how it all works, but to give you a quick rundown. The Deluxe Drink package being one of the most loved features of cruises around the world, is a truly unlimited alcohol package that also includes all the standard drinks that the other packages include. You really can’t go wrong with this package especially when bought at a great price or on sale, you’ll be making your money worth in no time.

Let’s Dive Into It
Let’s get the elephant out of the room, this isn’t guaranteed work however a lot of cruises have success doing this. This will work better if your other party has a reason to NOT have the package ideally a medical reason. Such as past alcohol abuse, recovering alcoholic, or allergic to alcohol – if not this still may work in your favor. What you are going to need to do is call Royal Caribbean’s phone line which can be found here on Royal’s website. From there you’ll speak to an agent and explain to them one person wants to purchase the Deluxe Beverage Package, and the other is not due to personal issues (Or medical if this is the case) sometimes they may ask for the exact reason – sometimes they won’t.

The Catch
Here is the slight catch, they’ll then say the other person will have to buy the Refreshments package instead. While still the other person is required to purchase a package, it is A LOT cheaper, than the Deluxe Drink Package. This isn’t guaranteed to work however a lot of fellow cruises reported that this works most of the time. It’s definitely worth a shot if buying the package for everyone in the cabin won’t work for you.
If you don’t know what the Refreshments Package is – you can see our deep dive into the package here where we go over everything to do with the package to get you up to speed.
We must also add that Royal doesn’t tolerate sharing drinks, we personally believe it is not worth being caught sharing drinks. You could potentially lose the package for the remained of the cruise, and potentially lose the option to purchase the package again if not harsh penalties from Royal. With this in mind see if this works for you, and if you have any tips you think we should add – let us know!
