The Deluxe Drink Package
What is the deluxe drink package? This is Royal Caribbean’s top-tier drink package that offers a limitless experience to drinks, from milkshakes to cocktails with everything in between. Unlike P&O, Princess and Carnival limit their guest to 15 Alcoholic drinks per 24-hour period. Royal allows unlimited Alcoholic beverages, you can drink as much as you want up to the value of $14 USD per drink.
The cost of a cocktail on board Royal ships is $14 USD with just about all drinks costing under this! (select high-end wines are $16 USD) On top of this Royal also offers you “40% on bottles of wine worth up to $100, and 20% on any over $100”
Is The Royal Caribbean Deluxe Drink Package Worth It?
This comes down to a few things to factor in, first of all – do you drink alcohol? If not then this package isn’t for you – you might be more interested in the Refreshment package. If you do then, what type of a cruise is this for you? Do you want to relax and not have to worry about looking at your bank account or how much drinks cost?
If you want to just relax and not worry about overspending on drinks then this is for you. Lastly, the value – the drinks package can come in on the pricey side sometimes upwards of $95 to even $113 USD per day – However if you keep your eye out for a sale you can snap this up for %40 off, costing about $64 USD or even less (prices vary ship to ship). Other than from a value perspective, it all depends if you want the joy of just tapping your Seapass card and not worrying about the cost of drinks.
Drink Prices
Let’s talk about the unbeatable value, let us go over some prices quickly
Soft drinks – $5.40 – $6.20 AUD – ($3.5-$4 USD)
Beers – $11.59 -$14.70 AUD – ($7.49-$9.50 USD)
Cocktails – $21.67 AUD ($14 USD)
Spirits – $15.46 – $20.10 AUD – ($9.99 – $12.99 USD)
Wines – $12.38 – 21.67 AUD (Bottles of wine 44.88 – 86.66 AUD) ($8 – $16 USD) or ($29 – $61 USD Per bottle)
Juice – $5.42 AUD ($3.50 USD)
So with this in mind, we can see you can make your money worth it very quickly. Let’s say you’ve gotten the drinks package at 35% off costing roughly ($69 USD) – you’d need to have only 4 (and a bit) Cocktails then you’ve made it “Worth it”
The best part is just trying out new things, my favorite thing to ask bartenders is “Surprise me, what’s your favorite drink to make” – I’ve tried things I never knew existed! sometimes I think they are awful and sometimes I love them. If you don’t like it – just put it aside and ask for another drink! this is the great value of the deluxe drink package!
Personally, we always travel with it – the last thing we want to be doing is worrying about money while on vacation. We think it is worth it – IF you can get it during a sale anything over %30 we consider “good value” with %40 or over is amazing. Royal Caribbean often has sales throughout the year, don’t be fooled by one sale! The 50% off the second guest – This means the first guest pays the full price while the second is 50% off.
The more common sales are “pre-cruise” 25-30% off – this is a much better value as this is for the total value of both guests. We’ve got a whole section for when Royal Caribbean has sales Here – however best tip is to wait for Black Friday as you will typically find the deluxe beverage package for 40% off. With all this said we’ve done a deep dive on the Deluxe drink package which you can see Here
The Benefits
Let’s go over some of the benefits now for the deluxe drink package, on top of the unlimited drinks – as we said before you get a great discount such as “40% on bottles of wine worth up to $100, and 20% on any over $100”. You’ll also get a “Coca-Cola® souvenir cup included” which can be used on the Coca-Cola freestyle soft drink machines on board the ship. Lastly, the peace of mind that you don’t have to spend a cent on drinks! (Unless you are buying bottles or top-tier spirits and wines)
The Refreshment Package
While incredibly similar to the Deluxe drink package, one key difference is that it doesn’t include alcoholic drinks or a discount on buying bottles of alcohol. But let’s go over what it does include – you’ll still enjoy unlimited drinks of Softdrink, Fresh squeezed orange juice, Non-alcoholic cocktails, and Premium coffees and teas (excluding Starbucks).
If you’re not much of a lover of alcohol then this may be the perfect package for you. It can also be sound typically for a lot cheaper coming in at roughly 42.36 USD and going down even cheaper during sales – this can be a very appetising option for adults and teens alike and yes Coca-Cola® souvenir cup is still included with this package. “Fountain soda and refills in any venue
Coca-Cola® souvenir cup included”
This can be typically gotten at 30% off costing just $12 USD per day otherwise roughly $17 USD per day.
